Post-Bariatric Surgery: Butt Lift (Butt Augmentation)
Bariatric surgery is the most popular and effective way to lose weight. However, if you want to improve and maintain your figure after weight loss surgery, you’ll have to turn to post-bariatric body contouring procedures.
Many women undergoing bariatric (weight loss) surgery are not satisfied with the appearance of their buttocks, especially when they want shapely, full buttocks to complement their new figure.
Fortunately, with butt augmentation and butt lift procedures, the butt can be safely re-contoured and raised after bariatric surgery. With extensive experience performing body-contouring procedures, Dr. Moeinolmolki performs butt augmentation and butt lift surgery in a comfortable, safe and effective manner.
The main goal of these procedures is to increase or improve the size and shape of your buttocks. If you need more volume and projection in your butt, you will need buttock augmentation – with either implant or fat grafting to make it more rounded.
But if you have significant sagging skin, then the sagging skin needs to be addressed with a lift procedure. Often, a butt lift is combined with an augmentation procedure, utilizing fat or an implant in order to restore the shape and contour of the butt.
Sometimes, the patient’s own tissue can be repositioned to create more projection and better contour, which is referred to as auto-augmentation. The butt lift procedure can also be combined with a thigh lift procedure to have what is referred to as the Spiral lift. Based on your post-weight loss goals and overall health, Dr. Moeinolmolki will determine the most effective approach for you during the initial consultation.

What Does Fat Grafting Involve?
In many cases, the surgery is performed through fat grafting. Since this method involves using the patient’s own tissue, fat grafting is a popular butt lift technique. The basic advantage of this procedure is that it reduces the risk of rejection from the patient’s body. During the procedure, Dr. Moeinolmolki will obtain fat from other areas of your body through liposuction. This technique has the benefit of giving a more shapely appearance to your buttocks by reducing fat in targeted sites. To minimize the risk of scarring, Dr. Moeinolmolki uses tiny incisions to perform liposuction and to inject the fat. The goal of this procedure is to remove extra fat from unwanted sites and inject it into new locations in order to achieve the desired results.
How Do Butt Implants Work?
Implants are yet another popular option to improve the appearance of the butt. This surgery is a powerful method for enhancing the projection and contour of the buttocks. Dr. Moeinolmolki will perform this procedure by creating a small incision at the top of the buttock crease. Butt implants are most commonly placed right beneath the muscle covering. If you have any concerns or questions about the surgery, you can always discuss them with Dr. Moeinolmolki.
How Long Does it Take to Recover From the Surgery?
It should take around a week before you can return to work after butt lift surgery. But, make sure that you only engage in light-duty jobs for the first 20-30 days. In most cases, pain medication is prescribed for about 3-5 days to reduce any discomfort following the surgery. During this crucial healing phase, Dr. Moeinolmolki can offer invaluable guidance and advice to help speed up your recovery.
Remember, it can take up to four to six weeks before you experience that “back-to-normal” feeling. But, the good part is that you can expect to sit down comfortably after your butt lift surgery. You will be given a special compression garment that should be worn for around a month and a half following the surgery. In addition to minimizing swelling, this garment will make sure that the grafted fat or butt implants remain in the right position as you recover from the surgery.
